As someone who edits frequently, I spend a lot of my time listening to audio through headphones, but when I want to listen without the constraints of having my ears covered, the SonaVERSE UBR Desktop Soundbar from Accessory Power (from their GoGroove range) is absolutely a great way to enjoy content.

The soundbar is cleverly designed, with the bar itself angled upward with a slant, meaning you get optimal sound that is directed upwards and not at your chest. The design also extends to the fact the SonaVERSE UBR is intended to be placed underneath your monitor, freeing up the left and right areas of your desk that would otherwise be taken up by speakers, so using the UBR should de-clutter your workspace (depending how messy you are!)

There is a power on/volume dial on the far right of the soundbar, and I especially love this; having a dial for volume is a much preferred means of altering levels, it just feel more natural than a button. The dial also has a blue LED, which looks great and the power icon on the dial also lights up, making it easy to operate in the dark.

The UBR itself is powered via USB, then connecting via the 3.5mm output of your PC/Laptop, and also has a mic line. The front of the UBR has two pass-through connectors, meaning you can plug your headphones straight in, and the same for mic (although all of our microphones connect via USB or XLR, so I couldn't test this). The pass-through for headphones works as advertised, but it should be noted that the volume dial doesn't work for headphones, so you'll still have to use on-board controls or media buttons on your keyboard when using headphones.

The power provided is there for the dual premium drivers and a passive subwoofer, with the UBR power hitting 12W peak (3W X 2 and 6W RMS). The frequency response is very good at 95Hz - 20KHz and the audio itself is warm and clear, still maintaining surprisingly crisp sounds even at louder volumes - especially when comparing them to the built in speakers of my monitor.

For the fashion conscious, it also comes in a variety of colours; grey/black, white, blackout, and blue. We were sent the grey/black version, which along with the white version comes with a silver grill, whilst the Blackout and Blue (you guessed it) sport black and blue grills.

The SonaVERSE UBR Desktop Soundbar is a great addition to your work area, it looks great, takes up minimal space, and the sound quality is genuinely very good, especially for the price, which is currently £27.99 on Amazon.
